Gregory Bateson lectures on "Orders of Change". While acknowledging the difficulties of speaking about change and stability due to the slippery positioning of the "it" of which one is speaking: "it" as existent thing or as "piece of descriptive material." Bateson distinguishes between levels of change, suggesting that more superficial changes serve the function of protecting deeper propositions. This is lecture 2 in a series of lectures.
